Bharathi Arun was one of the several young players to have donned the colours for India as the new ball partner to the legendary Kapil Dev.
He played two Tests and four ODIs and served Tamil Nadu with distinction, winning the Ranji Trophy as a player in 1987-88, then coaching the State to two appearances in the final.
They also once became champions of the All India Interstate one day competition for the Vijay Hazare trophy.
Arun then coached the Bengal Ranji team to runner-up in the All-India interstate one-day tournament. He qualified as a Level C coach in 2004 and has served the NCA well at the Zonal Cricket Academy since.
